Hiii my friends. I wanted to post last night but was chatting with my mom and then my best friend on the phone for an hour and a half! I am usually not a phone person, so it was completely out of the norm for me, but it felt really good to connect with people from home after a long day at a new client :) …. even though it meant that my Turbo workout was accomplished from 10:30-11:30pm. I am a tired girl today.

The new location is going pretty well. I try to stay pretty upbeat and positive on the bloggy – that’s half the reason I write on here, to remind myself of all the good things in my life ;) – but this travel SUCKS. In Memphis, our client was less than 30 minutes away from the airport. Here, we are over 2 hours away, and we lose an hour thanks to time zones :( Β This means 2 things…. 1) we work more on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to make up for the insane amount of travel we do on Monday/Thursday (I worked around 11 hours today) and 2) we are in the middle of nowhere. At least “nowhere” is near a river with some pretty bluffs… I’m anticipating some pretty drives once the leaves start to turn. Plus, there’s a Starbucks! Coffee with Pumpkin Spice flavor + pretty trees = happy mornings.

Our hotel is decent, too:

I especially like the good workout mirror ;) Last year, when I was addicted to group strength with my roommate Alison, we would try to get to class in time to get “good spots” where we could check ourselves out in the mirrors. Haha… is that vain? I blame it on liking to check my form, but really I just like to check out the gun show while I work it.

Haha.

Staying on a good exercise schedule here is definitely going to be a challenge with the longer days during the week, but as always, I’m keeping it flexible and fitting in what I can, when I can. The food sitch is also going to be a little questionable… we didn’t do a snack run to the grocery store this week, but I think we will in the future since the drinking water here is seriously sketchy. Having snacks will improve my food choices, and I packed some LARA bars and Kind bars this week until we get a better routine worked out.

We found an *awesome* little cafe-type lunch spot already, where there are about 6 different things I would like to try on the menu. I had a yummy California turkey sandwich (avocado!! of course) yesterday, and I’m looking forward to trying some salads and the veggie hummus wrap. Already 1000% better than every lunch choice I had in Memphis. We ate out for dinner at a random Irish pub the first night, and an equally random brew pub tonight, but last night I had a decent bowl of pasta with whole wheat noodles, chicken, pesto and pine nuts:

Whole wheat noodles as an option… all is not lost. I’ve been sticking with egg white veggie omelets with no cheese so far for breakfast, which is another 1000% improvement from the kinda-sketchy hotel breakfast with pseudo-wheat bread in Memphis.

Of course… all the whole wheat noodles in the world couldn’t make up for being on my own couch with my hunk-o-love, but I received my favorite email of the week (“It’s time to check in!”) a few hours ago so it’s almost weekend time :)

More updates to come on my adventures in the nondescriptΒ Midwest… :) Hope you are all having a fabulous week <3

P.S. Any workin’ girls out there… check out these shoes my grandma got for me (hi, Grandma!):

Not only are they super cute, they are literally the most comfortable work shoes I’ve ever owned. They are Bandolino and I love them. Just had to give you the heads up if you are looking for super cushy shoes for work (I’ve been getting *serious* blisters since I started working in July from all my flats so I’m in love)… and had to give a shoutout to my grandma for buying me presents <3
